Acuvue 2 For Astigmatism?

Filed under FAQ on advance for astigmatism
I got contacts in the summer, samples, wore them. I liked them and disliked them. They were clear and perfect but would get kind of uncomfortable towards 8 or 9 hours of wear. I haven’t worn contacts or glasses for over a month and my eye site is bad. I wish to get contacts but dont want to spend $50 per box on PureVision Toric, which the doctor recommends for astigmatism. I want to purchase Acuvue 2 for obvious reasons. The question is would they be fine with me having astigmatism? I read online that someone said it works fine. PLease let me in one some information.

It depends entirely on how much astigmatism you have.
If you have a fairly high amount of astigmatism, then it has to be corrected with a toric lens or you just won’t be seeing well .
We can’t even suggest anything without seeing your prescription, except to talk to your Dr. to see if there are alternatives you can try besides a toric lens.
EDIT *****
If you have written out your complete prescription then there is no way a spherical lens could work, like the Acuvue 2 are.
Your correction is strictly cylindrical so a normal lens which is spherical can’t help enough to make any difference.
I sympathize with your problem, but anything but the toric lenses you require will just be a waste of money, they won’t work.
With that prescription, I would fork out the extra money and get the toric. Your eyes will more than thank you in the end. Your astigmatism is medium to high and a standard sphere lens will not suffice. Your eyes require toric lenses, yes they are more expensive, but don’t restrict your vision to save a bit of money… you can’t put a price on your eyes.
