Are Contact Lenses Supposed To Make Everything Look Closer/bigger?

I used to wear contacts, for about a year and I eventually stoped because they gave me terrible migraines and headaches. Then I started wearing my glasses for about another year and I got absolutely no headaches or anything! But glasses are really annoying so I recently started wearing contacts again, and I’m starting to think that I got those terrible headaches and such because they make everything look closer and bigger. My eye doctor also said that is probably why. He gave me contact lenses to correct my astigmatism, but everything still looks the same. Is there any type of contacts or way that I can make everything look the way it does when I’m wearing my glasses? In other words, are contacts supposed to make everything look bigger/closer? Or are there contacts that make everything look normal, like when I’m wearing my glasses?

Were your eyeglasses made after your last examination? Or, are they older an older pair with a different prescription? If the eyeglasses are older, this could be your problem.
There may be very slight variances depending on your prescription, but they should not be as different as you are describing.
Are you still experiencing headaches?
If so, then the prescription in the contacts may be a bit off or the fit incorrect. Do not hesitate to discuss these problems with your doctor as this is the only way he/she could work with you to rectify them.
I’m not positive if this is the case for you, but if you are nearsighted, your glasses will be concave lenses and will make things look smaller. If you are used to the way things look through your glasses, when you switch to contacts (which have much less of the size changing effect compared with glasses) things will look bigger & closer. The stronger your prescription is, the bigger this size difference will be. Actually, the size things are with your contacts is closer to reality than with your glasses. I’m not sure why the size change would cause headaches. Some people have to try several brands of contacts before they find one they can wear, also, maybe they are too strong, or the perscription is somehow messed up, this would be more likely to cause headaches.
Your contacts should be just like wearing your glasses. If you have astigmatism your eye doc may have given you “TOREK” (I’m sure i mispelled that) lenses, but for me I hated them everything is blury and gave me headaches.
Depending on how severe your astigmanism is, you may be able to try “purevision” lenses.
Which I love.
The moral of the story is you may need to try a few differnt brands/styles of lenses until you find the right kind for you.
