What is the spherical portion of your rx? If it is zero, then you are near-sighted only in the vertical meridian. If it starts with a negative number, you are near-sighted in both meridians, and if it starts with a positive number, you are near-sighted in one meridian and far-sighted in the other.
As far as correcting it, glasses or contacts will help while wearing them, but won’t cure the problem. If you are of age and have a stable prescription, refractive surgery may help repair it.
I have a similar prescription in my left eye and my right eye has normal vision. If it is not bothering you, then you may be able to go without correcting it for a while. Mine was at -1.00 when I was first prescribed eyeglasses to correct it. My right eye was able to compensate for it so I did not start wearing corrective lenses until several years later when the astigmatism got worse and I starting having problems.
My prescription was -1.50 X60 when I started wearing corrective lenses. I wear a contact lens in my left eye most of the time and wear glasses at home. If both of your eyes are at -1 or higher, I suggest that you start wearing corrective lenses.
You could wear contact lenses or glasses. Also could consider laser eye treatment. Suggest you check with your local opticians for options available to suit you.
use purevision toric. They are great
