You have a moderate amount of astigmatism in the right eye. Astigmatism means the surface of the eye is not perfectly round, and that interferes with focus.
Your exact prescription is just what you’ve written. Astigmatism is a separate component of the prescription than far or near-sightedness. You have zero near/far sightedness, -3.75 astigmatism, and 015 is the ‘direction’ of the astigmatism. Your friend is only near-sighted; her exact prescription would have 3 numbers too (-8.00 0.00 x 000) but people who have little or no astigmatism usually only refer to how big their near or far-sightedness is.

Okay. The first part of your rx is your “distance” or spherical vision 0.00 which means you don’t need and help to see far away or near. But having astigmatisim the -3.75 (which is med-high) make your eyeball more football shaped rather than a nice round ball(if it was a round ball your rx would be 0.00-0.00 no correction needed) Since your eye has astigmatisim it causes things to appear blurry or for example if you were reading a book the line of text can appear wavy or “jumpy”. The last number X 015 is the axis of your lens or where your eye needs your contact to be to achieve the full power of your correction. Your friend has Myopia (nearsightedness) and only needs the spherical part of a perscription to help her. Hope this helps

The prescription is on the box of your contact lenses. I have 2 numbers, one for my left eye and the other for my right. That girl must have the same prescription in both eyes. That number is probably due to your astigmatism. Does the other girl have that same condition as you?
It doesn’t look that bad, me left eye for near sightedness is -3.75.
“Eyeglasses are the primary choice of correction for persons with astigmatism. They will contain a special cylindrical lens prescription to compensate for the astigmatism. This provides for additional lens power in only specific meridians of the lens. An example of a prescription for astigmatism for one eye would be -1.00 -1.25 X 90. The middle number (-1.25) is the lens power for correction of the astigmatism. The “X 90″ designates the placement (axis) of the lens power. The first number (-1.00) indicates that this prescription also includes a correction for nearsightedness in addition to astigmatism.”

I assumed that the -3.75 represented your vision of 20/375 (instead of 20/20 vision)…I don’t know if that is correct. Anyone know?
