Can Someone With Astigmatism Wear Normal Lenses Without Damaging Their Eyes ?

There was a similar question to this but it didn’t answer what I want to know. I want to wear costume contacts for a special event, but I don’t want to spend hundreds of dollars for one pair of custom torics. I know that torics are weighted so the lenses do not shift and you can see better with them, but are they actually shaped different from normal lenses to fit eyes with astigmatism? In this case I don’t care if the normal lenses let me see clearly. I just want to know if the shape of the normal lenses would damage my eyes. Thank you.

Regular contacts will not damage astigmatic eyes.
You might be surprised how well you see with them.
The spherical costume lenses will likely fit you, however you probably will not be able to see as well with them. They should not damage your eyes if the base curve and diameter fit correctly.
I normally wear a toric lens in my left and purchases spherical colored contacts for a costume. My right eye has normal vision so seeing clearly was not as much of a factor for me.
