Contact Lense Fitting & Lens Prices. High Pressure Sales Tactics Too, Should I Go Somewhere Else?

Ive worn contacts before. This was a new office. They did not let me wear my old brand and charged me $95 for a fitting session after my eye exam which took mere moments since I needed no assistantance. The lady then tried to get me to purchase 1 year on the spot for $350 which seems outrageous to me, then tried to talk me into purchasing Gucci sunglasses(I had no interest in sunglasses). I said Id wait a week to see how the contacts feel. I asked why she chose the brand she did she said its cause they’re inexpensive & its the only brand they keep in stock.
Well they feel HORRIBLE already, its only been 2 days. They feel dry and grungy, I have to keep cleaning them throughout the day. They are coopervision contacts but im not sure which kind. Im glad I did not buy 1 years worth. Will I be charged (AGAIN) for a refit into another brand? And are they charging to much for their contacts in general (no abnormalities, no astigmatism, script is only -2.25) Should I go somewhere else?

Firstly I think that price seems VERY steep for a fitting that wasn’t even conducted properly! If there was an error in scheduling and they didn’t have enough time to do a proper fitting then they should have not done it at all!!! At that point they should have explained they made an error in scheduling and had you come back in for a fitting at later date!
They should not be trying to sell you contact lenses before you even get a chance to see how well the trials work for you! Usually an eye doctor will give you some trial contacts and have you back in for a check up in about a weeks time to check the fit and make sure they are working well for you. At this point you can order more boxes of contacts if you are satisfied. You can buy how ever many boxes you feel necessary… do not let anyone to talk you into something you do not feel comfortable with! When choosing a contact lens for a patient the fitter must consider what type of contact lens is best suited to the patient…. not what happens to be in stock! If there was not a suitable lens in stock they should have ordered some trials in another type of lens and had you continue the fitting at a later date!
I think you should call them back and let them know that these contact lenses are not working well for you. A contact lens fitting can sometimes be a trial and error process and they should not expect the first pair to always work for a patient! I really think they should have you back in for another fitting free of charge… but I’m not sure how their particular business works! They really should be having you back in for a follow up appt anyways! If they shrug you off… then go somewhere else! I really hope this all gets sorted out for you! Good luck!
Was the $95 for the entire exam, or was that the extra contact lens fitting? That seems a bit steep unless you are doing a monofit or something else extraordinary.
First of all, never buy a one year supply of contacts if it is a brand that you have never worn. They should not have tried to sell those to you untl you came back for your follow up visit. When you go back for your follow up for the Coopervision, tell them you don’t like them and want something else. They should not charge you for another follow up. Once you receive the contacts you like, ask for a copy of your prescription. Don’t be upset because the optician was showing you sunglasses. You really should be wearing them anyway. If you don’t like the ones she showed you, just politely let her know. Never feel pressure to buy anything. If you feel pressure, take your prescription and walk.
go somewhere else.
btw, there is no reason for them to not be able to order differnt brands
