i went for an eye test yesterday and i am +0.25 in each eye which i know is pretty good. however i often get headaches at the computer, if i got these very weak lenses would it help the headaches? or is it completely pointless? also what is the test for astigmatism?? because he didnt fill anything out on the prescription and i have a feeling he didnt test for it at all?

The test for astigmatism is included in your eye test. Its part of when they try to determine your prescription. They will have tested for it, but if it was left bank on the prescription, then that means you do not have any astigmatism.
I think it would be pointless buying glasses of that sort of prescription, They will not help with the headaches you are getting. Headaches with computers is very common, sometimes it can just be the contrast on your screen causing eye strain, or just the amount of work you are doing on it. Make sure you have plenty of breaks on the computer.
This prescription is completely insignificant, don’t get it made up in glasses.
There are several ways to test for astigmatism, most commonly flipping a lens over and asking you which looks clearer when viewing black rings or dots. Its very unlikely this wasn’t done.
There is no other test for astigmatism it show up in the one test. Its part of some people’s prescriptions and obviously you do not have it. I don’t think the prescription will help you out. How long do you spend on the computer? Do you take regular breaks? Think about it staring at a computer screen for hours and hours can cause a lot of strain on the eye’s. Take small breaks.
Try +.75 for near.
I’d go to WalMart and buy the weakest set of reading glasses you can find and see if that helps with the headaches. It’s worth $10-$20 to see if it helps. If it does, then you could buy progressive lenses to adjust for your specific needs (clear glass straight on for distance, prescription at the bottom for close up).
Astigmatism is usually tested by the doctor asking you to look at patterns to see if some are clearer and darker than others. See the link for an example: http://www.acuvue.com/thinking-whocanwea…
You are hyperopic, got to wear glasses constantly. In hyperopia even in mild form(+0.25DS) accommodation(autofocusing)of the eye remains activated all the time if glasses are not worn causing asthenia of the eyes i.e. headache, eyestrain, watering etc. Accommodation is the process by which the eye increases optical power to maintain a clear image on an object as it draws near the eye. You don’t have astigmatism.
