    Hello,
Yes, you’ll need bifocals after the surgery….unless you do monovision Lasik—which will correct one eye for distance and the other eye for near.
“The study’s advice is for older people to be realistic. LASIK may not get older folks back to 20/20. About 80 percent of people over age 40 do have a good result, which is slightly less than someone younger, but just slightly.
“You may want to try monovision LASIK,” Hnida said. “Correct one eye for distance and one eye for close up. No bifocals or reading glasses.”
So, I’d recommend you definitely get a consultation and the doctor can tell you if/how the surgery can be beneficial for YOU.
    Hope this helps!

I feel like im spamming the lasik board but… just want to warn people about the pre-op/consultation!
my lasik would have cost $4000 (wavefront lasik)
I was gonna do it but im glad I didn’t i canceled two days before operation… they would have really overcorrected me due to a mistake in the prescription.. plus I have large pupils and my prescription changed in the last year… I guess
I went to a bad place because they didn’t tell me ANYTHING
My eyes are even already a little dry and I had to ask for eye drops for part of the exam, they simply just gave me the drops and didnt warn about the severe dry eye problems people with already dry eye experience…
anyways i pray everyday for thanks that I didn’t do it :)
you mite be fine tho, i dont know what your story is… but a VAST majority of people are fine… just be very careful with the pre-op, find out everything they are supposed to check and make sure they do it!! that was my issue!!! :P
Maybe I will try again in many years when the technology gets better
