First-time Wearing Contacts, Third Day In, Vision Constantly Blurry?

I got my first pair of contacts (Acuvue Oasys for Astigmatism) three days ago, and I still can’t see to save my life. It feels like halfway between my previous glasses prescription and no glasses at all. I’ve worn them for maybe 4 hours on Friday, 5 hours on Saturday, and maybe an hour so far today. Can it really take this long for my eyes to “adjust,” or do you think they messed up the Rx or grabbed the wrong ones? I know I don’t have them in the wrong eyes. I have a follow-up appt. next Fri. but maybe I should go in sooner?

You have certainly worn them long enough . If you don’t see well with them by now, you never will.
Adjusting is about the comfort and feel of the contacts. Your vision should be clear almost right away.
They aren’t fitting you right, either fitting too tight, or not rotating like they should.
By all means, let them know the next time they are open. No sense wasting a whole trial week with lenses you can’t see out of. They will most likely have to try another brand on you.
But, that is what the trial period is for.
EDIT ***
Should you stop wearing them ?…that’s up to you, but if you can’t see with them, why would you want to wear them…lol
On the day when I first got my pair of contacts I could see perfectly! But every now and then when I blink its a little blurry because of some of the moisture but all i have to do is blink again and they are fine. So I think you need to talk to the doctor.
So there are three things i can think of that would make this happen…
1) it’s the wrong prescription
2) astigmatism contacts are weighted – they have to sit a certain way in order for your vision to be clear. acuvue oasys is great about not shifting after they’re in, but you may need to adjust them until its sitting correctly. with clean hands, gently rotate the contact around your eye. this may take a bit of adjustment in order to get it right.
3) have you checked to make sure the contacts aren’t inside out or in the wrong eye?! i know that sounds like a given, but the contacts are so thin with such a high water content that they can flip completely inside out without being obvious – theyll even still sit relatively comfortably on your eye, but obviously won’t help your vision. if you have another set, i would try putting them in just to make sure you have the right contact in the right eye – this is really, really easy to get mixed up!
if none of that helps, take them to the eye doctor with you (you don’t need to wear them, but bring them with you as he may want to check how they sit your eyeball) when you re-schedule.
This doesn’t sound right. When I got my contacts, obviously my vision was a little screwy for a few days, but you should keep your contacts in for a minimum of twelve hours a day to get used to them. It can take longer for your eyes to adjust than a few days, but for me it came quickly. I would schedule a sooner appointment, because you don’t deserve to be seeing like this after getting contacts which are supposed to help your vision, not mess it up. Like I said, it could be because you’re not wearing them long enough for your eyes to adjust each day. They’re very careful at doctors’ offices, so I doubt they would have grabbed the wrong box or something. Just be safe and get an appointment scheduled. Good luck! Hope you’re seeing better sooner than later.
