Has Anyone Tried The Contacts With Distance In One Eye And Near Vision In Another? I Think They’re Too Blury.

The Opt.(Dr.) said I’d get used to them. He said that people dont wear contacts because they give great vision, they wear them so that they dont have to wear glasses. What do think?
I have astigmatism in one eye. I need bifocals.

He lied, twice at least, if you’re reporting correctly.
SOME people get used to monovision and prefer it to bifocal contacts. With some people it’s the other way around.
Some can’t get to like either approach.
Bifocal contacts aren’t available with an astigmatic correction
(there may be an exception?) so if you need a toric lens, monovision would be the obvious first try.
As for the second statement, again, SOME people accept a lower standard of vison in order to have the convenience of contacts, or the flexibility of bifocal contacts, but to others the compromise is unacceptable.
Monovision is a compromise on binocularity. With bifocal contacts, there can be a loss of peak acutiy, loss of contrast, and glare and haloes at night.
For some people, that’s still better than bifocal or varifocal glasses, or wondering where they’ve put their reading glasses. But not for everyone, by any means.

I stared wearing this type of contacts a few weeks ago and while they don’t seem to be as clear as my glasses are, I am getting used to them. I also have to use bifocals which is why they give you two different lenses. My sister also wears this kind and has been for about a year and she says that she cannot tell the difference between the lenses and her glasses anymore.

It is called mono-vision and it basically tricks the brain into seeing clearly. Remember, only one eye is seeing clearly at each focal distance so you don’t get good binocular vision, like you do with glasses. For the convenience, some will tolerate it, but if you want nice clear vision, the only way is with bifocals. Another possible option would be to have distance contacts using readers over them as needed, but then you’ll have to keep track of where you leave them.

Unless your contacts are the wrong perscription or ripped, you’re not going to get used to them. Contacts are for people who dont want glasses, but if it bothers you, it’s NOT worth it.

I have a similar prescription. I have a near-sighted eye and a far-sighted eye. I got used to my contacts after a week. If they are really blurry buy a new type of solution or get some eye drops because your contacts might be dry. Also make sure they are in the correct eye! I have had them in the wrong eyes many times. They might also be warped. Try a different contact. If they have been in old solution for to long, been in the air to long or haven’t been cleaned properly your contacts may become warped and become blurry. I have had contacts for 2 years and I love them. So if you play sports or don’t like glasses, I really recommend contacts.
