How Do You Get Contacts In?

How do you get contacts in? My eyes are really small, almond shaped ones (Chinese heritage =[[), and I have astigmatism, so my contacts are super big.I can hold my eye wide enough, and I can touch my eyes with just my fingers/no contacts for a brief second, but everytime I bring my finger with the contact towards my eye, I start blinking. I have tried this for over 4 hours, and still nothing has worked. Also, once I bring the contact up to my eye, I start seeing through the filmy clear part, and that just makes everything mess up. Sometimes, I end up jabbing my eye with the edge of the contact by putting it in a certain way. This is getting really really REALLY REALLY FRUSTRATING!! Please give some help. This is just my trial pair, and it already isn’t working. The people at the optometrist tried to help me for an hour, and it still didn’t work. It took the doctor 7 tries just to get one of them in one of my eyes, and he insists this is the right size. HELLPPPP!!!

Here’s what I do that helps…don’t attempt to look forward and put the contact on your iris. Instead, try this:
~ Look up and pull just the bottom lid down to expose the bottom of your eyeball [put your middle finger right below your eye and pull it down a bit]
~ Keep looking up and place the contact on the bottom part of your eyeball that is exposed [on the white, not on your iris]. Don’t look into the mirror while doing this…you should be looking up so that you don’t really see anything.
If you have trouble looking up, try looking all the way towards your nose and place the contact on the outside portion of your eyeball. Just be sure to always place it on the white portion of your eyeball and then blink a few times to move it into place. Trying to put it on the iris part of your eye is what makes it difficult.
~ close your eye for a second, then open it and blink a couple of times…this should bring the contact into the right position
The best thing to do would be to go back to the optician or whoever you got them from (presuming they are prescription) and ask for some useful hints and tips to getting them in and out sucessfully. Don’t be afraid to go to the retailer and ask for advice as they are trained in this sort of thing and will be happy to help! At my opticians they won’t let you leave until they are happy you can get the lenses in and out confidently on your own!
