i want the high index because the polycarb is too thick but am told not to get the 1.74 because it will break easily in the rimless

What they are saying is true. however, we do not reccoment the 1.74 in a drill mount because of the brittleness, not the lack of impact resistancy.Get the 1.67 and try to make sure you get a frame that has little decentration for the PD. This means your eyes are about dead in the center all the way around. The optician will know what this means. I have a -6.50 and have a rimless in a 1.67. It is NOT as cute as a lower Rx, but not so bad to tell you the truth becuasew I kept the size down and had 0 decentration. Do the best AR coating you can afford as well and you will look good and see well.
