    I have had contact lenses, even with Astigmatism. Would be wise for you to check with your Optometrist ( Optician) before proceeding any further.
    Such a choice around, now. Hard / Soft/ whatever

    go to your local opticians, ask them, there are so many types of contact lenses available now. also they will take extra measurements to ensure the correct contact lens for you
