Astigmatism is where the shape of the cornea is oval instead of round eg shaped like a football, instead of a soccer ball. You can have near sightedness with or without astigmatism.
Most people who have astigmatism can be quite easily fitted with contact lenses.
From what you have written, there is no way of telling if you do or not.
You answered your own question. You said your nearisighted. You probably have some type of astigmatism in your correction, as it is quite common and most folks have at least some astigmatism. From the details you’ve given though, its impossible to say for sure. Chances are, you have *some*.
Even if you DO have astigmatism, they make soft contact lenses, called toric lenses, that will correct it. Only your Optometrist can determine if you are a good candidate for contact lenses.
What the gal before me said, but do you see shadows within shadows? If so than you have a stigmatism, and they do make contacts for that, but some places have to order them and they are a little more expensive than normal contacts. When you go to the optomatrist they will be able to tell you easily if you have one or not. They can change though. Mine has come and gone for years.
i have this same problem i got contacts for it but they dry out and move easy but its good to have glasses too i love the contacts.
