practically whole life, do you mean from birth????
when did you notice you got shortsighted???
the truth is very very very very few people are born with defective vision, even if your parent wear glasses, most kid’s are not born with defective vision, you are still very young, you have a high chance of improving it back to normal,
    here’s the websites – http://www.cleareyesight.info
or if you want to spend money use eyerelax, eyepower from japan, eye exercise device from china or accommotrac – http://www.accommotrac.com/http://www.roffereyecare.com/http://www.eyecollege.com/http://www.central-fixation.comhttp://web.singnet.com.sg/~hanwen/nvifaq…
i wish you can tell you parents about this, for there is a much better alternative to laser eye surgery
wish you all the best and try it and commit to it. if you have not commit to it, don’t say it don’t work, it takes commitment and time,

21 is the age most places offer Laser surgery as usually your eyes have mostly settled down by now
It can be worth it although there is a chance of you needing glasses for reading etc in the future, but we are talking like after 40 years.
Positive – you save money on things like glasses
Drawbacks – its not always a 100% certain thing that your vision will be 20/20 and stay that way forever, but most of the time vision is corrected well enough to not need glasses
There is a slight chance of infection so make sure you do everything they tell you with regards to drops and aftercare. Read the consent forms very carefully. Don’t be afraid to ask questions. Make sure your parents are ok with it – it sounds like they are but discuss it with them to be certain

DO NOT EVEN THINK ABOUT LASER EYE SURGERY WITHOUT FIRST LOOKING AT THIS WEBSITE -
    http://www.Freedomfromglasses.co.uk
Laser eye surgery is expensive and not without risk and in over 90% of cases is totally not required.
I had astigmatism at +6.25 diopres in each eye but have recently passed my medical for a full class 1 JAA pilots license and this was without laser eye surgery.

The firs thing they’ll tell you if you call a lasik place is that you’re not old enough. Your eyesight is still changing at your age, they’ll tell you to wait until you mid 20s. Beyond that, though, I had it myself and it was the best money I ever spent (and I had it back when it was a lot more than it is now). More than 6 years now and perfect vision.

DO NOT do it until you are at least 21. One of my friends did it as soon as she turned 18 and her eyes are almost right back to where they were and she is just 25. It worked in the beginning though.
