Let me throw some advise out there….my wife did her surgery about two years ago (mid 20’s) because she has no patience whatsoever and we have both been reading on the Internet that the natural progression of sight loss as you age will in most cases null the effects of the procedure in about 10-15 years. I’m not saying you have to wait that long, but every little bit of patience will pay off big time in the long run on this one.

Usually you should be at least 18 to have the surgery. I’ve never heard of a doctor doing anybody younger than that. If you only have astigmatism your doctor may be suggesting it because he/she knows your vision won’t change much. Usually doing lasik before 18 is premature because your eyes change if your nearsighted. Astigmatism is almost the same since your birth. So you don’t have to worry about your vision stabilizing. That’s maybe why your doctor is confident in doing it so early. If you have myopia and astigmatism I have no idea why your doctor would suggest lasik so soon. You should probably wait until your in your early 20’s to make sure your eyes stabilize if you are nearsighted. You don’t want to go through the procedure again after a few years when your eyes get worse. But if you only have astigmatism you might not need to wait.
i read it in magazine that it’s done for someone below 18 to correct their short-sightedness. but,i’m so sorry,i dont know what astigmatism is.
No, under age of even 21, your cornea/ RX can change. If this were to happen after the surgery you would most likely need to either have an enhancement done to correct for the change in your eye sight or wear glasses or contacts again.
Its not worth the risk in my opinion, you are spending so much money on the procedure, you might as well wait until its easier to be sure you will get amazing results that will last.
No, u shd wait under at least u at 21 years old. Recommended
Regular lasik isn’t approved by the FDA for people younger than 18. CustomVue isn’t approved by the FDA for people younger than 21. In special cases you can get it done if you have really poor vision. You are suppose to wait until your older because vision typically fluctuates until you are around 18-21.
LASIK is not done before 18 years.
