New To Using Contacts & They Irritate My Eyes?

Hi okay so I have really bad eye vision I have astigmatism so I see everything very blurry I went to my eye doctor today at noon & he gave me a free pair of contact lenses just to try for 3 days to see if they work, & I got home & tried to put them on but I couldn’t I have never worn contacts before only glasses & so that is why I was having a hard time, my eyes can’t take it anymore they are really hurting since I keep trying to put them in, okay well 6 hours role by & I have been trying to put them in & finally I get them in & trust me it wasn’t easy lol well anyway I have them on now & my eyes just are hurting like crazy & they are irritating me & the light just makes it worse although I can see way better & I like them it just is really irritating
What can it be? Is it because I am not used to it that is why it’s irritating me or is it because I have been trying to do it for 6 hours straight? Or could it be something else?

i got my contacts yesterday. it was really hard to put mine in the first time too, i was there for 45 minutes, just putting the left contact in, and now that i got it in the first time,i can get it in with ease.
The doctor would not let me leave, until i could show him that i could take the contact out and out and in.
make sure you use eye lubricant, because your eyes get really dry.
to put the contact in, I put salene on my hands, and made sure my fingertips were wet with salene contact cleaner, put the contact on my first finger, put a drop of salene in the contact, held my eye open, touched the contact with my eye, trying not to blink, looked up, took my finger off, and looked up and down and side-to-side.
the contact was in!
then i took my eye lube, kept it in my pocket, and used it when i needed it though the first day of using my contacts.
you will get it in, and i hope you get used to it, good luck!
