I was directed to toss mine after a month of elapsed time -- not based on number of uses. In practice, I discard them when they start feeling uncomfortable before the end of the day -- usually 4-5 weeks of constant use. You need to use your own judgment of balancing cost vs. comfort vs. possibility of infection.
If you can get a lens that is comfortable, I would suggest getting hard lenses. (I used to wear hard lenses but my eyes are too dry now.) Hard lenses are more expensive starting out, but if your prescription is stable and you don't lose them, they can be much cheaper in the long run. They can also provide clearer vision and are less susceptible to infections.
