Will My Eyes Adjust To Glasses With Only Small Periods Of Wear?

I just got my first pair of glasses in 7 or so years and my first pair of glasses with a lens for astigmatism (yes, one – I only have it in one eye).
I put them on and the world is a bit warped. I found that this is due to the astigmatism. When I do wear them, I feel dizzy and my eyed feel a bit strained, although I can see better than I do with contacts in.
What I’m wondering is if this strain will get better with time even though these glasses aren’t full-time for me. I put them on after my shower and I’m usually up for five or six hours following that shower.
Last question is when I do adjust to my glasses, will my contacts be fine still, or will I have to pick one and stick with it? Although I like the clarity of the glasses, I’m a photographer and I really don’t want that lens getting in my way when I’m taking photos.

I have astigmatism in both eyes and I never wore glasses regularly, I went and got trial contacts to try and I didn’t have a problem yesterday when I wore them for almost 7 hours but today I feel very nauseous and had to take them out. Is this normal?
Any Opticians? Wear Non Toric Contact Lens And Adjust Sph To Compensate For Astigmatism?

I just had an eye test for new glasses today but I also wear contact lenses. My new prescription shows I have astigmatism in my left eye; Sphere -3.00, cylinder -.75 and axis 175. My optician said that it was borderline on needing to wear a toric contact lens but I would probably still be ok with the normal ones I’ve been wearing if they felt ok etc. I usually order my lenses online and then have them checked for fit. If I want to order just normal lenses (not toric) do I just order -3.00? I read somewhere about changing this number slightly to make up for astigmatism?
Thanks
