I’m About To Get Rigid Gas Permeable Contact Lenses, And I’m Wondering If It’s Okay To Play Tennis With Them?

I just had my eye exam almost exactly a week ago, and my optometrist recommended me rgp contact lenses for crisper vision, as I have bad astigmatism. I know the diameter of rgp contact is smaller than a soft contact, thus, will it be easier to… fall out of my eye in a sense?
I’m going to be playing tennis with them, and I can’t afford to lose a contact lens by it coming out of my eye.
Also, how long does it take generally to custom make rgp contact lenses? I have yet to get a call from my optometrist.
Need Help For Toric Contact Lenses..please…anyone..?

My glasses prescription is R: -4.00/-1.00×160
L: -5.00/-1.00×20
The optometrist suggested me wearing toric contact lenses with
R: -3.75/-0.75×160
L: -4.75/-0.75×20
since -1.00cyl is not in the contact lens range.
.She said my sph needed to be reduced 0.25 because contact lens is much closer to the eye. But,since the cyl for both eyes are reduced 0.25 too, based on my experience, the sph for both eyes should be increased to cover the astigmatism.
Even in the previous non-toric contact lens prescription, the optometrist added just another 0.25 to my sph to cover the -1.00 cyl.
But,it didn’t turn out well.
so,this time,I’m not sure with her prescription. I think it should be R: -4.00/-0.75×160
L: -5.00/-0.75×20
what do you think?…help please…I’m gonna where the lenses for 1 year,so I need to make sure.
How Much Are Contact Lenses Without Insurance…?

I’m 18 years old, I’ll be 19 at the end of this month. When I turn 19 my insurance is switching. I’ll be going from NC Health Choice to Adult Medicaid (I believe its Medicaid and not Medicare). I know that Medicaid (or Medicare) doesn’t cover contact lenses. I just recently switched from glasses to contacts over Thanksgiving. I’m still wearing the trial lenses (this is my 2nd pair) because the first pair didn’t adjust well to my eyes. I have another check-up on December 18th, and hopefully the doctor will write me out a prescription then, so I can at least get a few months worth of contacts.
Anyways, my questions is, roughly how much will contacts cost me without an insurance? I’ve already had the exam and everything. I just need to know the cost of the contacts themselves. I do have astigmatism in one eye, but the doctor currently has me using a contact that’s not for astigmatism correction because of how my eyes reacted to the first pair of lenses I had.
Contact Lense Fitting & Lens Prices. High Pressure Sales Tactics Too, Should I Go Somewhere Else?

Ive worn contacts before. This was a new office. They did not let me wear my old brand and charged me $95 for a fitting session after my eye exam which took mere moments since I needed no assistantance. The lady then tried to get me to purchase 1 year on the spot for $350 which seems outrageous to me, then tried to talk me into purchasing Gucci sunglasses(I had no interest in sunglasses). I said Id wait a week to see how the contacts feel. I asked why she chose the brand she did she said its cause they’re inexpensive & its the only brand they keep in stock.
Well they feel HORRIBLE already, its only been 2 days. They feel dry and grungy, I have to keep cleaning them throughout the day. They are coopervision contacts but im not sure which kind. Im glad I did not buy 1 years worth. Will I be charged (AGAIN) for a refit into another brand? And are they charging to much for their contacts in general (no abnormalities, no astigmatism, script is only -2.25) Should I go somewhere else?
Are Contact Lenses Supposed To Make Everything Look Closer/bigger?

I used to wear contacts, for about a year and I eventually stoped because they gave me terrible migraines and headaches. Then I started wearing my glasses for about another year and I got absolutely no headaches or anything! But glasses are really annoying so I recently started wearing contacts again, and I’m starting to think that I got those terrible headaches and such because they make everything look closer and bigger. My eye doctor also said that is probably why. He gave me contact lenses to correct my astigmatism, but everything still looks the same. Is there any type of contacts or way that I can make everything look the way it does when I’m wearing my glasses? In other words, are contacts supposed to make everything look bigger/closer? Or are there contacts that make everything look normal, like when I’m wearing my glasses?
What Do The Numbers Mean On Your Contact Lense Rx?

Can any one explain what the numbers on your prescription?
I know that 20/20 is perfect vision, but when the numbers are negative numbers, explain what it means and when your eyes are really really bad, meaning that you can’t see your own hand if you hold it straight out in front of you (without your contacts or glasses of course) what would your numbers be to be considered legally blind?
when I say that you can’t see it I don’t mean that you can’t see anything, but if you had a paper in your hand, you probably couldn’t see what was written on it even if it was the size of the biggest letter on the eye chart. and while I’m asking, I thought of another question
If you wear corrective lenses all the time, do your eyes become dependent on them, meaning that they will never get stronger, almost like building an immunity to antibiotics?
Wow, I think I confused myself on that one, but if you understand what I was trying to ask, answer please. I hate wearing contacts and glasses just the same, considering lacik surgery, but was just curious about all this stuff, and oops sorry, another question, is there any thing different I would need to do besides ask my eye doc about the surgery? meaning is there any waiting period, or anything that he will make me do before he can recommend, or do the surgery. once I decide, I am a very impatiant person, and don’t like to wait, I like instant gratification. I also have an astigmatism will that be a factor in the surgery, meaning that I couldn’t have it done.
sorry so long, I started asking, and a dozen more questions popped into my head =(

they are ALWAYS dry even like 5 minutes after i put them in or if i use drops they dry up in like 10 minutes
i have astigmatism or w/e in one eye but its not that bad and so my eye doctor said that its not enough to change the lens but i mostly feel discomfort in that eye and after i blink it hurts
im 14 and im farsighted and i dont’ usually wear glasses or contacts or anything my prescription is +5.25 and +5.75
i get headaches a lot because of not wearing them but i prefer that over messing with it
know what probems might be or have suggestions
(apparently in a few years i won’t be able to focus like i can right now so i have to start wearing them for when i start to drive too)
Help! I Can’t Get My Contact Lense Out Of My Eye!?

I just got a trial pair of contacts on Friday. I have two very different prescriptions, my left eye is way worse then my right but my right has an astigmatism. So in the process of getting used to my contacts I will get these killer headache because the right swivles so much I can’t focus. So tonight I have had them in the 8 hours I was supposed to and go to take them out. The right eye, with the thicker lens pops right out no problem, but I have now been trying for an hour to get the thinner left eye out. I have tried flushing it, lifting my lid, scrunching it in the corner, rolling my eyes around, and of course the normal way my doc told me to. My eye hurts horribly and I just want it out. I am so frustrated I was able to cry for about 20 minutes and that STILL didn’t do it. I don’t know what to do and my doctor’s office isn’t open again until tomorrow.
