I have a pretty severe astigmatism in my right eye. I’ve had the same glasses since before I got married (3 years ago) and was still covered on my mom’s insurance. Since I married a man in the Army, I’m covered by tricare, but tricare only covers the exam. Let’s say the frame I buy is only $100, how expensive with the RX lens be to go with?
Why Can’t I Get A Contact Lens To Correct My Small Astigmatism?

I got fitted for contact lenses about 6 months ago, but I find that my vision is constantly slightly blurry when I wear my contacts. (Also, every now and then my vision gets really blurry for about 30 seconds, but that is not really my problem). I get a lot of eyestrain and headaches, so having constantly blurry vision is not good for me. I am worried that I won’t be able to continue wearing contacts.
My eyeglasses prescription is
OD (RIGHT)………………….OS (LEFT)
SPH +1……………….. +1
CYL – 0.25……………….. – 0.5
AXI 125……………….. 60
ADD 0……………….. 0
PD…………… 58
My contact lens prescription is
OD (Right)………………..OS (Left)
SPH +.75……………….. +1
CYL nil……………….. – 0.75
AXI nil……………….. 70
BC 8.4……………….. 8.6
DIA 14.0……………….. 14.5
The astigmatism is worse in my left eye, and I am left eye dominant. My optometrist said that the astigmatism in my right eye is too small to be corrected by contact lenses (she said the ‘market’ for them was too small for companies to bother making contact lenses for that size). She tried to balance off the effects of my right eye astigmatism by distorting the ‘true’ contact lens prescription for my left eye.
The results of this are far from perfect. I cannot even wear my contact lenses because I get so much eyestrain and constant blurriness.
From what my optometrist said it sounds like all my contact lens problems would be solved if only my right eye was worst – if only the astigmatism was severe enough to be correctable with contact lenses. My glasses prescription is perfect for me, but not my contact lens prescription.
What other contact lens options do I have? I am using Acuvue Oasys lenses (Acuvue Oasys for Astigmatism in my left eye only). I have heard that RPG lenses give better clarity of vision. Is that an option for me? Is it possible for me to buy contact lenses from other companies that are perfect for my right eye astigmatism?
From google-searching it sounds like I have an “oblique astigmatism” which means my astigmatism, although quite low, has a greater-than-normal effect on my vision. It also means that when I blink my contact lens shifts more than for most contact-wearers, and I get very blurry vision for several seconds.
Thanks so much for any advice
Will Walmart Give Me The Correct Trial Contact Lense?

On Jan 31 I ordered contact lenses. My insurance co. was closed on that day (saturday) so they couldn’t verify i had insurance. The lady told me that she will place my order on mon feb 2.
i called on wed feb 4 just to be sure order was placed and to ask when should i expect them to come in. she told me that she placed the order on tue feb 3, instead because she was off on monday and by them using a new system she had no idea when they would arrive.
today is wed. jan 11 and i called to see have contacts arrived and was told that no order had been placed for me, they saw where one had been placed on 1/31 but it had been cancelled. the lady apologized over and over again and offered me a trial pair of contact lenses. well my husband goes by and pick them up because i was at work. The left contact lense is just fine but the right one has to be the wrong prescription because when i put it on its as if i don’t have it on. I am very nearsighted and have astigmatism. They are closed now, do you think I will have a problem getting the right trial lense for my right eye. I don’t have my prescription, but it’s obvious that this prescription is wrong.
Can Lazik Surgery Correct Astigmatism And Cataracts?

I had an eye exam 6 month ago and my doctor said I had the very beginning signs of a cataract on my right eye. I also have astigmatism in both eyes. Because of this, my glasses do not correct my vision as much as I would like and I cannot wear contacts. Since, I have bi-focals they tried putting a different lense in each eye but I could not see at all with the contacts.
Approximately how long does is take from the beginning stages of cataracts until Medicare will pay for the surgery? Also, is this same surgery the same as lazik that is suppose to correct our farsightedness or nearsightedness? Also, will Lazik surgery correct astigmatism? If so, would it be adviseable to go ahead and pay for my own surgery and have it alll corrected at once?
Why Can’t I Get Lasix Done To Correct My Eyes Even Just Enough To Wear Contacts Again?

I realize once the astigmatism reaches a certain curvature it is not lasix eligible. I am asking if it can be corrected as much as possible without removing the cornea itself, so I can wear much weaker, cheaper glasses and start wearing contacts again.

What Would Happen If I Didn’t Correct My Astigmatism All The Way?

Hypothetically speaking what happens if I get Ortho K contact lens, but since my astigmatism is 2.75 and ortho k only corrects to 1.75, what happens if I have 1.0 of astigmatism left? Can I still function in society? Would words just be a bit blurry?
Anything To Correct Astigmatism Besides Refractive Surgery?

I started wearing glasses at age 5 due to near-sightedness in both eyes. By around age 13 my eyes were perfect and I ceased wearing glasses. Over the next five years my right eye became very slightly near-sighted again and my left eye became very far-sighted – it now has astigmatism. I’m wearing glasses again almost every day (when before it was all day every day) because about a year of using contact lenses bothered me. I don’t understand why my left eye deteoriated, but even with my new glasses on I have blurry vision sometimes. Will it get better, or is eye surgery the only option in the future?
Will A Cararact Operation Correct Astigmatism?

Is it necessary for the eye surgeon who replaces a defective natural lens with an artificial lens (cataract surgery) to do an extra procedure to correct astigmatism or will the perfect artificial lens permit at least 20-30 eyesight? Or is the astigmatism caused by some other part of the eye that needs to be changed by the surgeon before the cataract surgery. I think that eyeglasses will correct astigmatism if it exists after the cataract surgery. If additional pre-cataract surgery is necessary to correct for astigmatism, what actual procedures are involved?
