Different Perscription For Contacts And Glasses?

Filed under FAQ on advance for astigmatism

I went to the eye doctor today and I definately felt like my vision had gotten worse. Well I was right. When my doctor refracted( i think that is the word he used)my vision went from being -1.25 in my right and -1.00 in my left both with -.5 astigmatism to -1.75 in both eyes without astigmatism. At least that is what he told me and what the glasses perscription said. When I went over to the contacts people, I already wore contacts I have for about 4 years, they had me put my old ones on and said since I could still read the 20/20 line with those, i could read it but barely, they said they didn’t need to give me a stronger perscription. I know what I saw when I was with the doctor through the machine was clearer than that. So my question is why would they do this I mean .5 and .75 is enough to make a big difference right? Shouldn’t they have just given me the perscription my doctor wrote.Should I go back and have them fix it or am I just worrying over nothing? Thanks so much for your help

My eyes have a bit of astigmatism, and want some color contact. But, they are super expensive.
I’ve search for a month and luckily I found one kind of color contacts that is pretty and it’s price is ok.
Now the problem is it only have BC 8.6 and BC 8.4, my eyes are 8.7
I was wondering, is a slight different (0.1) in BC will be a ok?

Just Had Pupillary Distance Measure And Different From Before?

Filed under FAQ on advance for astigmatism

I just had my pupillary distance measured today and it was 33 by 32, however just a week earlier I had it measured and it was 34 by 33… the optician said all my previous measurements for as long as I was wearing glasses was always 34 by 33…
How come it came out to 33 by 32 today (she checked it like 5 times)… I have been pretty stressed lately which I heard could dialate your pupils… would that affect the reading?
its 2mm off from what it always was, i’m thinking of going back tomm morning to recheck. My perscription is -2.25 on both eyes (no astigmatism), will 2mm make a difference?
thanks

People without astigmatism have a wide variety of colored contacts to choose from while people with astigmatism have only a few. If anyone knows of a brand that offers colored contacts for astigmatism and sells a wide variety could you please let me know? and also can someone explain why there is less variety for people with astigmatism?

What Are These Synergeyes And How Different Are They From Toric Lens?are They Worth A Try Or Just Wasteof Time

Whats the success rate of these on Astigmatism. Are they just like toric lens which are horrible.Users Please give ur experiences with Synergeyes. Why are they so costly. IS it because they are new on the market. Will they do justice to their cost.
My Prescription is below:
Sphere Cylinder Axis
OD -1.50 +1.00 013
OS -1.75 +1.75 155
I would be 26 next month and had specs from last 2 yrs. Continously using specs from probably 1 yr.
was trying for toric contacts and tried
1.accuvue advance for astigmatism(rotating and not convenient too big for my eye it seems)
2.vertex toric
3.soflens66 toric
4.biomedics toric
and now 5.purevision torics( BC 8.7 Dia 14.0mm)
the problem is when I focus on the objects, I feel blurred for a sec and again the vision comes back but its happening very frequently.

Trying Out 2 Different Type Of Contact Lenses?

October 26, 2009 by admin
Filed under FAQ on advance for astigmatism

I had been wearing the Purevision Toric for a year. Now I am revisiting the optometrist for the better lenses for my eyes with higher Dk.
My doctor gave me 2 pairs of lenses to try out. One is Air Optix for Astigmatism and the other one is Acuvue Oasys for astigmatism.
Experience with Air Optix: These lenses are comfortable, they provide clear vision for me when they are settled but I feel burning in my eyes so many times in a day and they get blurry easily. Seem like my left eye is blurrier compared to the the right, is this lense incompatibility? or the power is not good enough.
With Oasys: cause my eyes to itch on the sides and the peripheral visions are bad (top left and right of the focus). One day, they are so hard to get out, they seem to stick to my eyes (like with some kind of adhesive, BC problem?) even that I had just but them on for 3 hours.
Which one would likely to be more compatible?

Can I Wear A Contact Lens With A Different Base Curve?

October 3, 2009 by admin
Filed under FAQ on advance for astigmatism

My right eye has a base curve of 8.7 and my left eye has a base curve of 8.6. Most contact lenses online are only available lin either 8.7 or 8.6. I can’t find a website that allows you to specify different sizes. Is it okay to wear a different size base curve for either eye? I have slight astigmatism in both eyes. Please advise.

How Are Contact Lenses For Astigmatism Different Than Regular Contact Lenses?

The reason I ask is because I was prescribed Acuvue Oasys lenses with a Base Curve of 8.6, but when I look for them they only come in 8.4 and 8.8. However, there are Acuvue Oasys for Astigmatism with a base curve of 8.6. Can I get those? Does that mean I have astigmatism?
