Is Too Expensive For Eye Exam?

I just had my eye exam in the doctor that my insurance company tell me to go to. I found out that I have a really high astigmatism, and the costs of everthing from eye exam, fitting and contact lenses itself are $360. Apparently my insurance only cover $60.
I was just wondering should I go for it? or just go to a regular store like walmart, costco and etc? I called those store and the price is about $100 each place. BUT, the problem is Im a bit worried about those stores, I mean are they good as these private doctor?

Eye Exam At Basic Training For The Army?

I went to the eye doctor today and he said I had slight astigmatism in my left eye. He said I also have a little bit of scratching on the surface probably from my contact when I was rubbing my eyes too much this weekend. He told me to remember to take my contacts out at night and that should be enough to allow the eye to heal itself in a few days. Hopefully. If I leave for Basic Training for the Army in 2 weeks and the scratch isn’t healed completely yet and I have the slight astigmatism (which is still correctable to 20/20 with my contacts/glasses), will that hurt me during the eye exam during reception and possibly keep me from being able to start Basic on time (or at all!)?

Eyes Lens Contact Fitting Exam?

Hi all I went to the Eye doctor about 2 weeks ago, and got new glasses coming. Well the scheduled my contact fitting exam for tomorrow. The fitting exam cost $76 and lens cost around $46 for both eyes, that’s the price the secratary gave me. They doctor wouldn’t give me a pirce. Is this price normal? How long will the boxes last, they are going to be 2 wks disposables? They also offered me contacts that last a yr, for 90$ for both eyes. I have an astigmatism, but the doctor told me isn’t strong enough to affect my contacts? I have never had contacts before, can any explain what they do on the fitting exam? Will I get contacts tomorrow? Or do they order them,and I will have to wait til they come in. I’m going to try to get a perscription and order online later on. but they said the first boxes I have to buy from the office. What online sites does everyone use? Also what drops or cleaning supplies does everyone recomend, and where do you purchase it? I am just so excited sorry for all the questions.

I want to be a flight attendant but some airline websites say that your vision has to be at least 20/40. I wear glasses but I’m not sure whether or not I meet the 20/40 requirement because I have quite a bit of astigmatism.
