I have a muscle disease that effects all of my skeletal muscles including the muscles in my eyes. I don’t have nearly the eye movement as others, and my eye lid droops down about 1/2 down my eye. I’m 19 years old, and I my vision has changed very little over the past 2 years. I wear glasses, and have can wear contacts, but they are hard to get in, and they don’t work as well as the glasses. I have a astigmatism in my left eye too. Can I still get the surgery do you think?
Here is a picture of my eyes w/o my glasses: http://img5.imageshack.us/img5/1029/pict…

My sister has -5 -6 vision, and an astigmatism. Would her eyes be suitable for laser surgery?
I saw an advert that said ‘FROM £395 pr eye’, but would it cost more for her eyes?
Also, how do they do the surgery? She has tried contact lenses, but she can’t bare to put her finger in her eye!
Thank you!

I Have Severe Astigmatism, would L Bee A Good Candidate For Laser Or Permanent Contacts Lens Surgery?

That is pretty well impossible for anyone here to know.
You will have to go for a consultation at a laser clinic. They will be the only ones who can tell you that.
Several tests have to be done to determine whether a person is a good candidate.

Up to a certain degree, yes.
Very high astigmatism can’t be done.

I’m Going Into Infantry And Wear Glasses, When Should I Get Laser Corrective Surgery, Or Should I At All?

Glasses aren’t so bad, and some of the Wiley-X goggles I’ve looked at online can be tailored to my prescription. I’ve got astigmatism too with my near-sightedness, but it’s all correctable to 20/20. I know there are a lot of risk with laser corrective surgery, and with my case with astigmatism, it’s even riskier to get a perfect cut, so I still might have to wear glasses after getting the laser surgery.
I was thinking about just sticking with my glasses and getting those Wiley-X prescriptions for combat goggles once I’m deployed to my unit. I think that’s the best bet, what do you guys think? I guess having perfect eyes would help me quality on the shooting range better when I’m at boot camp, but what can you do right?

I have trifocal vision, an astigmatism, am nearsighted, 55 yrs. old, and fed up with glasses.
I talked with someone who said it’s not guaranteed I’ll have normal vision after the procedure, and still might have to wear glasses of some sort. Only for reading I could deal with but not glasses I’d have to wear all the time. It would defeat the purpose.
I will research this more, yet hoped for input from someone who’s had laser surgery with vision simular or the same as (trifocal) mine. From the horses mouth so to speak. Are there any optometrists who might be online who can advise? Knowledgeable or experienced answers please.
Thanks!!!
