ok, I asked my opthamologist for contacts that you can sleep in. My mom uses them. He perscribed me “purevision” contacts, made by baush and lomb, and told me I could wear them day and night for 30 days. So I wore them overnight, it was fine. Five nights, still fine. Then, they started to get uncomfortable. By the seventh day, they hurt, so I took them out, and my eyes burned. I tried a week later, terribly uncomfortable. Now I just take them out at night and wear them like normal contacts. I’ve been doing this for a few months, but I was talking to my mom, and she uses a different brand, “night and day.” I’m wondering, are the purevision contacts actually made for wearing overnight? Did my doctor make a mistake? I’ll be pretty irritated if he did. Its about time to get more contacts (I had a six month supply) and I want to get the right ones. The problem with a lot of contacts is that I have an astigmatism, so I need toric lenses. So my point is, can you sleep in purevision lenses?

I think I’d like to get contact lenses, but I want to know which kind to use.
I love the idea of overnight extended use contacts (so I don’t have to take the contacts out at night, and I can wear the same contacts for 2 weeks or so). What are these like? Are they comfortable?
What type of contacts do you use, and why?
I have weak long-sightedness (just +1 in each eye) and slight astigmatism in each eye. My current optometrist told me to just wear my glasses for reading. But my friend who is a trained/registered optometrist but is not currently practising suggests I wear my glasses all the time, because I complain of frequent headaches and eye-strain. In the last month I’ve been doing this and feel more comfortable if I wear my glasses all the time. But I don’t want to have to do this, so I’d like to get contact lenses instead.

I have already tried purevision torics and acuvue oasis (the purevisions were better) but it has been a while since i have purchased contacts and was wondering if there is anything new out there or if anyone has tried some and have a preference or a recomendation, thank you.
