Different Perscription For Contacts And Glasses?

I went to the eye doctor today and I definately felt like my vision had gotten worse. Well I was right. When my doctor refracted( i think that is the word he used)my vision went from being -1.25 in my right and -1.00 in my left both with -.5 astigmatism to -1.75 in both eyes without astigmatism. At least that is what he told me and what the glasses perscription said. When I went over to the contacts people, I already wore contacts I have for about 4 years, they had me put my old ones on and said since I could still read the 20/20 line with those, i could read it but barely, they said they didn’t need to give me a stronger perscription. I know what I saw when I was with the doctor through the machine was clearer than that. So my question is why would they do this I mean .5 and .75 is enough to make a big difference right? Shouldn’t they have just given me the perscription my doctor wrote.Should I go back and have them fix it or am I just worrying over nothing? Thanks so much for your help

Incorrect Eye Perscription?

I had my eye glass perscription updated yesterday and am feeling like one of my eyes may be over corrected, if that is possible. I am near sighted and have astigmatism in both eyes. Also, my eyes do not have equal myopia. My left eye feels pretty good with the new perscription, but in my right eye, I can see far away OK, but anything within about 20 feet or so is kind of blurry. I also noticed that that lens is noticably more curved that it used to be. Could the Dr. have over-corrected for astigmatism or something? I know that new glasses take several days to get used to but this feels a little different than past experiences.

I’m 19 With Myopic Astigmatism, My Perscription Is -4.25 Right Eye And -4.75 Left Eye. How Bad Is This?

That’s either legally blind or really close. I’ve never seen anyone over a 5.0 and they couldn’t see two inches in front of their face. Since you are 19 I’m going to say that it will probably get better with time and then it will level off. Just do things now to prevent it front getting worse like not reading in low light and things like that.
