I just went to the doctor and got new contacts, and I was told that both eyes have changed in power, yet the numbers on my new box and the numbers on my old box are the same. Is the power just not on the side?
My contacts are Acuvue Oasys for Astigmatism.
Are My Lens Power Affected By The Base Curve?

Hi,
I’ve been using Softlens 66 Toric for along time and it fits me the best. i have astigmatism.
My doctor had just prescribed me to Acuvue Advance and it’s just horrible..this is because the lens always moves around and my eyesight never becomes clear. I have astigmatism so it’s important the lens stay as it is.
Hence, I suspect it is a base curve issue as my previous Soflens has BC of 8.5 and Acuvue is 8.6.
My question: Can i use the same prescription my doctor gave me for the Acuvue to order the Soflens? Does a different base curve result in a different power, cylinder and axis for the lens?
Pls advice, thanks.
Toric And Astigmatism Contacts Just Drive Me Insane; Will Using A Stronger Power Of Normal Contacts Suffice?

I am planning a major trip this summer and I want to see… I have loved Acuvue Advance but my right eye isn’t seeing too well. My new doctor is trying to convince me to go to torics. I’ve tried aspheric and Acuvue for Astigmatism and didn’t yield much success vision wise. The Torics are driving me insane comfort wise, and I’m sick of my doctor disregarding my concerns and simply tweaking the power of the lens. I’m not a doctor, so I need some help… Will using a standard contact with a higher power (such as Acuvue Advance, the one brand that seems to feel comfortable) help my vision? Any optician-insight I can use to explain to my doctor without sounding stupid? Because right now, I can’t see that great with the Torics, and as we speak, I’m dealing with a red, stinging eye after only 8 hours of use. Basically—is there a way around Torics? If not, any suggestions on how to reason with my doctor? I’m sick of not being able to see, but being uncomfortable is just ridiculous.

I have astigmatism but how do they find out what correction is needed for it? How is it different from how they test for myopia, reading letters etc.?
