Some Questions About Contacts Lenses?

i just went to my eye doctor, she said that i need glasses
(i also have astigmatism in one eye) i really want to get contacts
some questions
1.Do they irritate or anything?
2.Which ones should i get? i heard that acuvue one’s are great, are they?
3.the ones from the doctor cost like 90 or 100 dollars, how much are the acuvue ones?
4.Are the color ones nice(comfortable and stuff?)? which color should i choose? (my hair is black and my skin is a LITTLE darker than in my avatar, would the greyish or brown ones look good?)
5.When should i get them? (i’m getting my glasses in 2 weeks, the doctor said i should get used to the glasses first)
i also have to convince my mom to get them!…she said that it would be hard for me to take care and stuff,and that they would irritate..any idea how i can convince her?
it would be very helpful if you answer even ONE of those questions!

I’m getting contacts on Monday, and i have a few questions.
Can you wear them when you shower or swim?
Are they difficult to get in your eyes?
Are they more difficult for people with astigmatism?
Is it easy to get an infection?

Astigmatism Questions?

Im 13 and was just diagnosed with astigmatism in my right eye only. He said left eyes 15/20 and the rights 20/40. I can see but if i shut the left icant. If I choose not to wear glasses will it ruin my left eye from.

im done with glasses.im thinking about contacts . now i know those questions might sound stupid but anyways
-do you wear the same pair of lenses all the time?? or do you change them ??

- does it hurt when you put them on ??? does it itch or somethign ???
-also how much do they cost????
and one more thing i have blue eyes but if i decide to get contacts i would want a bright blue color do they make them you know prescription or those color contacts are only cosmetic?

Questions About Astigmatism?

1) Should astigmatism be added on with your prescription or kept seperate? Like if I’m -5.00 and I have a -1.00 astigmatism, do I add them together?
2) Does astigmatism affect your chances of a retinal detachment?
3) Is there any way to treat it? One doctor told me wearing contact lenses would treat it, another said no. Who is right?
4) What would be considered “bad” astigmatism?

Okay. 2 Questions: Are Toric Lenses The Same As “for Astigmatism”? Where Is Cheap?

I’m trying to help my fiancee find new contacts, as his old ones were lost in our move. He got a prescription- and now i’m searching online for the cheapest price. One needs to be plain Acuvue, the right eye however needs Toric lenses. What are toric lenses? They are very expensive- is there a less expensive option out there? are “toric” lenses the same as “for astigmatism”? I’m sorry if the question sounds idiotic, but I have never dealt with this before. Last question is- where are the cheapest contacts online for small quantities? We only have enough money for a 1 year qty- and the month by month contacts are the best. We don’t want to deal with day to day ones. He is legally blind in one eye, so this is kind of necessary and quick…. thanks for the help everyone!!!

First Time For Contacts.. I Have A Lot Of Questions?

I have an appointment Thursday at 4 to get my eyes “fitted” for contacts.
I have astigmatism, and I am nearsighted. I also am prone to allergies, so sometimes my eyes get dry.
What contacts would you suggest? I would like a reasonable price, but good quality. I definitely want either breathable or ones that keep your eyes from drying out.
What is the best contact solution?
How long do you wear them at first before you replace them, if they are disposable?
Do you have to take them out before using eyedrops?
Feel free to be as detailed as possible with your answer, or if you have any tips or advice, please share.

General Questions About Contact Lenses?

First, thanks to anyone who is willing to help me out. This is the first time that I have worn contact lenses, so I am curious about some things, particularly since my optometrist didn’t really answer my questions when I asked her. I figure some experienced contact lens wearers may have some of the answers —
1) I have been wearing contacts for about a week and a half, but every time that I put them in my eyes really sting for about a minute or two. I clean them after taking them out of the case before putting them in, but it still stings. Is this normal for a new contact lens wearer? Could it be the solution?
2) I have dry eyes and I have heard that the more water content in the lens, the faster that it dries your eyes out. Is this true? I currently use SofLens 66 Toric (very slight astigmatism), which is 66% H2O. My eyes do get dry on occasion, so I was wondering if maybe I should ask to have my brand changed to something with less water.
3) Is it normal for your vision to blur and your eyes to feel dryer than usual while working on the computer or watching TV? Is this something that happens regardless of the brand that you use? It never happens while wearing my glasses, so I’m just wondering if I should stick to glasses when working on the computer and/or if that is even normal.
4) Brand specific – Does anyone know if a monthly disposable of SofLens 66 Toric even exists? My optometrist told me that I can wear the ones that I currently have for a month; however, I’ve looked my specific brand up online and I can only find 1-2 week disposables of that same brand. I went to Lens Crafters and they confirmed that they are indeed ONLY 1-2 week disposables, not monthly. I was just wondering if maybe my optometrist was wrong or if there was a reason why she said that they are monthly. They want to charge me $64 per box, so I thought that was shady since market prices online say that each box costs about half of that.
Anyway, I think that is it. I know it was a lot but I will be very appreciative to anyone who can help in any way. Thank you!!

Couple Of Questions About Astigmatism.?

I have astigmatism and it’s so hard to see at night while I drive. It’s not so much that I can’t see anything my eyes just water because the lights from oncoming cars or lamp posts seem so bright and hurt my eyes. I’m wearing glasses right now, but does anyone know of anything that can help me for when I drive at night?…Something I might be able to buy?…One more thing I had Toric lenses for my astigmatism last summer, but they really didn’t fit me well at all and I stopped wearing them. Can anyone suggest a good contact lens for astigmatism?
