Why Can’t I Read With My Contacts On?

I just got new contacts. My vision is clear when I look at objects further away, but blurry when I attempt to read. I have worn glasses for ten years now, and I’ve never had this problem. People told me that I just had to wait for my eyes to adjust to the contact lenses, but its been a week now and still no difference. What’s the problem here?
I have astigmatism, but these are toric lenses.

Eye Doctors, Please Read! I Picked Up My Eyeglasses Today And My Vision Is Improved, But Not 20/20.?

My right eye is corrected to 20/20, but my left is only to 20/30. They checked the prescription on the lenses and they are correct. The doctor said my left eye may need “Stimulation” to improve. He explained that this meant my brain had basically been shutting off the images from my left eye because my right eye was much stronger for so long and with my new glasses, “signals” from both eyes should be sent to the brain and I will be corrected to 20/20 after wearing them for a while. Is this something other new glasses wearers go through?
My prescription in both eyes is not very high I don’t think, .75 in my right and 2.00 in the left. (For distance) I also have astigmatism in the left eye. If it makes a difference, I am 22 years old and this is my FIRST pair of glasses ever.

as told many years ago that I had this condition but it has gotten progressively worse in the last 5 years. I am not able to afford an eye doctor at this point and time so any response is appreciated.

How Do You Read A Contact Lense Prescription?

My contact lense prescription is -0.00 -0.75 x090 in both eyes. (My doctor said its rare to see the exact same prescription in both eyes) Is this average? Mild? I also have an astigmatism; which numbers in the prescription represent my astigmatism information?
If it matters, I’m wearing Ciba Air Optix for Astigmatism. Thanks!

Confused On How To Read My Contact Lens Prescription?

My eye doctor wrote +175 for the sphere of my right eye. Is it really +175 or actually +1.75? I am trying to order contact lenses online and i realized the highest power i can select for contact lenses is +9.00
So i cant be really 175 right?

It depends on how much astigmatism you have, for one. If you have a very low amount, glasses or contacts may not be worth it, since your vision isn’t really very impaired. Usually though, people with astigmatism benefit the most from wearing glasses or contacts full time. This is because astigmatism doesn’t just affect close or far away vision, it causes vision at all distances to be blurry. I have a relatively high amount of astimatism in both eyes, so I can’t really read, drive, or do much of anything without glasses or contacts… Makes activities like swimming difficult, since it isn’t a very good idea to wear glasses or contacts while doing it!

I recently went to the eye docter’s and he told me i had astigmatism in both of my eyes and that i am boardline for needing glasses and that i am far and nearsighted so what does all that mean about the astigmatsim how does astigmatism happen ?
