Contacts Bad To Sleep In?

I’m getting my contact fitting soon, and I was just wondering about if it’s really bad to sleep in them. I plan on taking them out at night and putting them in, but I find that a lot of times, when I’m really tired I forget everything. And I seem to fall asleep with my glasses on, cause I read before bed, and usually fall asleep while reading unintentionally.
Really want contacts, have for a five years, but my mom is just now counting me responsible enough for them, so….
I also have astigmatism, though my current glasses doesn’t have whatever they do to lenses when you have astigmatism, because I got exam last year, and my dad was supposed to get glasses but never did… The glasses I have now I’ve had for two or three years. I wearing other ones with half frames until the left lens popped put and we couldn’t get it to stay in and never got to eye place to get them fixed.
So I was wondering, like if I accidentally fall asleep in contacts if it’ll cause damage or if I should look into get extended wear contacts. I kinda want 1 day disposable ones, but…

Why Is It So Bad To Sleep With Contacts In?

I use soft ACUVUE Advance for Astigmatism contacts and my eye doctor said I shouldn’t sleep with contacts in. I accidentally fell asleep with them in but when I woke up nothing really felt “wrong”….. why is it bad to sleep with them in?!
