I Have Slight Astigmatism ?

i was told i had slight astigmatism, and i had a choice of wearing regular soft lenses or hard lenses. if i wear the soft lenses, far away things will be shadowy and blurry and if i wore the hard lenses, they would be uncomfortable and make my eyes red, but i would see everything clearly. i asked about contacts for people with astigmatism, but he said my amount was too less for that. he said my astigmatism was about 25% or something. that was the ultimatum my stupid optometrist gave me. i went home and researched if there was anything else i could do. i found out toric lenses which are for people with astigmatism. i was wondering if someone with slight astimatism wear toric lenses. i read somewhere it could correct it, but i want some other opinions. thanks !

My eyes have a bit of astigmatism, and want some color contact. But, they are super expensive.
I’ve search for a month and luckily I found one kind of color contacts that is pretty and it’s price is ok.
Now the problem is it only have BC 8.6 and BC 8.4, my eyes are 8.7
I was wondering, is a slight different (0.1) in BC will be a ok?
Best Eyeglass Lenses For Severe Nearsightedness And Slight Astigmatism?

Filed under FAQ on advance for astigmatism
I have severe nearsightedness and a slight astigmatism.
It is -6.75, -0.25. Since my vision got below -4.00 (years ago), I have not been able to find a pair of eyeglasses that I can see out of as well as I can contacts. They tend to make me nauseated.
Does anybody have any information on which type of lenses would work best for me? I would really love to start wearing glasses again. Insurance/price is not a factor.
Thank you!

I have severe astigmatism, my ophthalmologist said this slight amber tint could make my vision even sharper than it is now, see, I have a problem when it comes to background colors, has anyone with severe astigmatism got slightly amber tinted lenses, not clip ons, the actual lenses of the glasses. If you do, have they helped your eye problem with background colors, like for reading signs and stuff. Has it made your vision sharper then when you wore transission lenses?? A good answer would be greatly appreciated!

I Have A Slight Astigmatism Is It Normal To Be Prescribed Weaker Contact Lenses?

Being prescribed a weaker precription is not usually due to astigmatism (although it can seem like that – see below). The main cause of the contact lens prescription being different to the spectacle prescription is the fact that the contact lenses sit on the cornea (i.e. the Back Vertex Distance is zero), whereas the spectacle prescription is taken at a further distance from the cornea (approx 10-14mm Back Vertex Distance). This back vertex distance influences the prescription so those who are short-sighted have contact lens prescriptions weaker than their specs, and those who are long sighted have contact lens prescriptions that are stronger than their specs.
An astigmatism means you have 2 different presciptions perpendicular to each-other, i.e. your prescription might read -2.50 / +0.50 x 180 (the 2nd two numbers representing the astigmatism), which means you have a -2.50 prescription in one direction (along 180 axis), and a -2.00 prescription in the other direction (along the 90 axis). What the optician will do is normally choose a prescription in between the the powers for low astigmatism (in this example, -2.25), or if the astigmatism is strong they will order you a toric lens.
Slight Astigmatism; Contacts Or Glasses?

I got my eyes checked yesterday, cause ive been having a hard time lately reading the white board in class, and they said that i now have a small amount of astigmatism, and my eyes now have a grade of 50 and 100(100 on the left eye, 50 on right).
they said 50 is too small for contacts, so they would have to order it for us. But my parents dont want me having contacts just yet,.. but i heard that contacts correct astigmatism better, and i dont want my astigmatism to get worse over time and then correct it! i would rather correct it now while its not so bad yet!
I told my parents that i dont really want glasses, because they seem like a hassle. and glasses always fall off for me, and the hurt my nose. ( but the lady said i need extra glasses)
What would be better for me? contacts or glasses?
and if contacts, what brands are the best in correcting astigmatism?
The Doctor Said I Have A Slight Astigmatism In My Right Eye.?

I’m from Mongolia, and there was one english optician so i went to him to get my eyes checked he said i had astigmatism. i didn’t really know what it meant. i wear glasses but i prefer contacts. i don’t think the mongolian doctors know about astigmatism, so when i got the contacts i think i just got normal contacts instead of astigmatism contacts. i’ve been wearing contacts for 2 years now. and is it ok for me to wear normal contacts ( i don’t think they have contacts for astigmatism in my country) am i seriously harming my eyes?

I have slight astigmatism, -0.25 to be exact, and I was wondering if I can still get off shelf coloured contact lenses? Or do I HAVE to get the toric lenses? (note this is only on one of my eyes)
