Laser Eye Surgery…is It Worth It?

Right…im 17…almost 18 and ive worn glasses practically my whole life…I prefair not having to wear glasses….so ive been wearing contact lenses practically all the time, but it is pretty expensive because i have an astigmatism. im short sighted (contacts are -3.00 (right) and -4.50 (left))
recently my dad suggested laser eye surgery. So what i want to know :
is it worth it?
what are the positives for it?
any draw backs?
anything you think i may need to know?
