Contacts/glasses Question-why Do I Have To Get Used To Glasses First?

Hi –
I got glasses recently (I’m 13) cuz I have 20/100 in every eye and slight astigmatism. However, I look like a nerd anyway and my friends told me to get contacts NOW cuz you look so nerdy. SO NERDY like really nerdy. My question-I’m responsible, and I’m willing to take care of contacts for as long as it takes/I won’t break them. I don’t have any headaches with glasses. Why are my parents telling me to wear glasses for a while first?

I used to have astigmatism but according to my eye doctor, both eyes now have the same prescription. So now I’m just nearsighted again.

See I just received my new glasses today and i have astigmatism in my right eye supposeably. well im having trouble seeing because of the right eye feels like its too strong. Its starting to drive me nuts it makes me feel like my eyes are crossed. should i go back and tell them its the wrong perscription or to take the astigmatism lens out of there? HELP!!

Getting Used To Glasses? Astigmatism?

I’ve had glasses since i was 10, and contacts since i was 12. Im 16 and my persciption is -6.25 and -5, so my eyes are terrible. I went to the eye doctor and was told I have an astigmatism. He then said that i could’nt wear contacts until it got better, and said that astigmatism contacts did’nt work on helping it. So I’m wearing glasses for the first time in years, and My perscption changed alot, plus the astigmatism stuff, and im like spaced out. Is there any way to make this better, Everything looks really blurry

Can I Used My Glasses Prescription For My Contact Lens?

i know most of you are probably going to say go to an optometrist but people who have contacts know it cost more to get contact exam more than getting a glasses exam. i can’t really afford that right now especially without an insurance. i dont have astigmatism last time i checked.
my glasses prescription is +1.00 both eyes and i’m nearsighted.

Question For An Eye Doctor Or Someone Who Has Used Ortho K Contacts?

Alright so heres the thing. My astigmatism is too high to use Ortho K’s. What would happen if I just used the Ortho K’s to correct my nearsightedness and then used reading glasses to correct the astigmatism? Would that work? Do you need to correct astigmatism when you are using distance vision?

I am 20 years old and have had high myopia and astigmatism my entire life. Recently I have started to use marijuana recreationally but it seems to better my vision at distances and I heard it can relieve pressures of the eye, which I happen to have a ridiculous amount of pressure in my eye with extensive stress on my retna. I finally went for the contacts…This is my 3rd day, but my vision is still blurred..they are acting surprised over at the opthamologist’s that this is happening…They are Purevision Multi-Focals…
An optician I saw a few months ago saw Astigmatism….So I went for a second opinion at the Opthamologist’s, and she found no evidence of astigmatism..
I don’ t know whom to believe, as why aren’t these contacts working?
