I got my first pair of contacts (Acuvue Oasys for Astigmatism) three days ago, and I still can’t see to save my life. It feels like halfway between my previous glasses prescription and no glasses at all. I’ve worn them for maybe 4 hours on Friday, 5 hours on Saturday, and maybe an hour so far today. Can it really take this long for my eyes to “adjust,” or do you think they messed up the Rx or grabbed the wrong ones? I know I don’t have them in the wrong eyes. I have a follow-up appt. next Fri. but maybe I should go in sooner?

Well, I had some issues getting into contacts again after having DD and I just went back to try again last Thursday and I mentioned my previous problem about not being able to see but for maybe less than an hour before they got blurry and uncomfortable. I tried O2 Optix last time and this is my second time and I’m still very uncomfortable. I’m positive that I have dry eye because my eyes are constantly dry with or without contacts and it’s really a problem for me. However, my optometrist refuses to even consider the possibility of my having dry eye because of my age (19). He also won’t treat me for the (borderline) astigmatism in my left eye. He thinks I am simply too OCD. I’ve heard about all the problems with OPTIX, but has anyone else had a similar experience, and if so, which brand of lenses did you feel more comfortable with?

I’m 13, and have incredibly severe astigmatism. Due to technology, my glasses aren’t that thick, but I don’t think my face was made for glasses. I look positively terrible with my glasses, and hate to wear them. I have contacts, but they hurt unbelievably bad, because my prescription is bad and they are thick, so they are extremely uncomfortable. I can’t see wiith them either. My parents will not let me get surgery, because of the chance of blindness. I can see without my glasses, but it requires focusing my eyes which makes me go cross-eyed and if I do it for too long it hurts. Also, I can’t read this way.
Any suggestions? I’ve tried to just wear my glasses when I read, but it’s easier just to wear them all the time. And don’t tell me to get different glasses, that’s not an option.
