Toric Lenses And Blurriness….?

February 8, 2010 by admin

So I got contacts yesterday. I did fine with putting them in a taking them out. All that stuff. I can see really good through my lenses, BUT they keep moving and going out of focus so everything gets blurry. So I hafta blink a lot to make it go right and then I can see fine again. This keeps happening and it’s getting so annoying in school, while reading, while driving, etc. I went to the eye doc and one of the workers said it was normal with toric lenses and that I COULD get weighted ones, but they would be uncomfortable. I have a follow up with the doc on tuesday. But I’m just really annoyed. I have astigmatism. No nearsided or farsided-ness. I hate glasses cause they’re such a bother. But I think having your vision go blurry every few seconds is much more annoying. What can I do???

Toric lenses do have a tendency to rotate, which causes blurry vision. What brand of lenses are you wearing? Try AcuVue Oasys for Astigmatism or AcuVue Advance for Astigmatism; are made by Vistakon. These are probably the best toric lenses available.

It is true toric lens do rotate. But the Dr can adjust the rotation and they will be less blurry. Toric lens do have a little weight so they will stay in place. Don’t give up . Sometimes it takes two or three different contacts to get the perfect one. Don’t give up!

Toric lenses are weighted, but they should not be uncomfortable if they are fitted correctly. Your optometrist should be able to adjust the rx to keep the lens from rotating. Good luck, and I hope this helps. :)

I only have correction for astigmatism plano (-1.25 axis 60) too. I use purevision and have been pleased with them. I suggest that you try various lens brands with your doctor and see what works best for you.
