Wanting To Try Rgp Contacts?!?!?

I have an eye appt next week and I really want to talk to him about switching to RGP (hard contact) lenses. I have astigmatism and it will save me money in the long run. Are they hard to get used to? How long does it take to adjust. Can I wear them to the lake as long as I dont open my eyes underwater? Are they different than soft contacts?

I’ve had rigid gas permeable contacts for 25 years. Each person gets used to them differently. Some people can wear them and others find them uncomfortable. I got used to them in a day or so. I use Optimum by Lobob for RGP lubricating solution, since it offers the best lube I’ve experienced. Here’s some suggestions:
    1) RGP contact lens removers are available described on the site below. They may also be available at your pharmacy. If you have a hard time removing the contacts by hand, all you need to do is lubricate the eye, move the contact to one side to the white of the eye, and use the remover to remove it. The remover is essentially a suction cup. Make sure you have a drop or two of contact lens lubrication on the eye so the remover can adhere to the contact lens.http://www.aclens.com/da.asp?ID=45
    2) Don’t open your eyes underwater. It’s safer to get a pair of sport goggles that you can get at any sporting good store (Aqua Sphere is a good brand. I’ve use them for years.)

if you open your eyes under water they will fall out,and it take a long time for your astigmatism to heal because the color of your eye is shaped like a football not a basketball so it has to take time to go back to an basketball shape eye(I KNOW THIS IAM A EYE DOCTER)
