What Other Options Are There Besides Toric Lenses Or Eye Laser Surgery?

I have been fitted with toric contact lenses from CIBA Vision, because I have astigmatism. However, the lenses are not at all comfortable. One is absolutely irritating. It seems I constantly have a double vision, like the lens is not fitting well. Also, my eyes are always dry, the lenses feel like they are shifting on my eyes. I was fitted with a lot of brands, including Acuevue. And now CIBA Vision. None seem to work. It looks like laser would be the only option left, because wearing glasses with a -5.50 and -7.00 strength is also not comfortable. Anybody have similar experiences and how did you cope/solve it?

There are still a few other brands of torics you probably haven’t tried yet. There is surely one that will work for you if your Dr. has any experience with them.
It’s not surprising you have trouble with the torics from Ciba. Ciba never did learn how to make a good toric lens.
Coopervision makes a couple of excellent toric brands that I very rarely ever have trouble with.

Dont give up yet! Coopervision and Basuch & Lomb have some torics that may work for you!
As for the glasses, you really cant argue that against the glasses. Maybe your frame is heavy on your nose, causing some irritation and discomfort? Is the Rx up to date on the lenses…
LASIK is great, but it requires a great deal of pre-screening to check candidacy, so your optometrist can guide you in the right direction if your interested!
    Best of luck

are they hard or soft lenses? I have soft lenses from Bausch and Lomb and while my right one (Toric) is *slightly* off sometimes (not always clear) they are both very comfortable.

maybe you need to see an eye Dr that specializes in contact lenses…(not every eye Dr knows what they’re doing.
