Did your doctor mention something called convergence insufficiency?  That could explain your problems focusing at near.  While wearing your contacts try using a pair of reading glasses to read something up close.  Use the lowest power you can find, usually a +1.00 but some companies make a +0.75.  See if that helps.</description>
