The world has astigmatism… that’s so great; very true. It seems that the world has themselves thinking that we’re all more aware of others problems, with our “eyes wide open”. That problem has been getting us into so many global issues, and if we all keep fighting one another in struggle for superiority over our entire human race, the world might just implode. We’re all one race, and it’s ridiculous what the world has gotten into as trying to differentiate ourselves as an “me against us” instead of a “we”. Ah, this question is really eye opening….no pun intended. Gets me thinking…

    i think it depends
lets say someone throws a snowball at someone and someone throws it back the second person is equal or completing the eye for and eye idiom
but lets say if the 2nd person didnt hit the 1st person but it hit someone else the 3rd person would retailate so it wouldnt be an eye for an eye it would be an eye for an other eye
what im trying to say is and eye for an eye is equal but if the blindness didnt hit the intended person (eg like 2nd snowball thing i wrote) then in thoeryit wouldnt be an “eye for an eye…” in the 1st place making the quesstion flawed and/or paradoxical

The problem with taking an eye for an eye is that the person you’re taking it from is seldom the same person who took it from you. Same religion or ethnic group perhaps, but that’s the problem. That’s why Jews and Muslims in the middle east are perpetually at war–each side avenging the previous side’s attack by attacking innocents who had nothing to do with it.
I think if we could get past all this “us vs. them” thinking, and those institutions which support and embody it like religion and government, we could really go a long ways toward achieving real, lasting peace.

    its so true…
retaliation just brings counter-retaliation and so on and so on….
until we have a nuclear war that destroys the earth leaving us all either dead or dying on a desolate planet that use to be inhabitable
i for one am not going to die because a bunch of self-righteous bastards want to play a game of “mines is bigger than yours” with nuclear weapons
peace can win more wars than people think

    …truly, i think its cool…
    …in blindness all is one…
…no pollution of the skies, waters, lands, a return to nature…
…no planes, trains, ships, cars…a complete world stand still…
    …thanks for sharing…

It means to me getting back at people will only cause you more trouble like the main people who get people back always still hurt in the end
