Why Do Contat Lense Irritates My Eyes So Much I Can Only Keep Them On For A Couple Of Hours?

I am 21 years. -2.25 left eye and -4.75 right eye (astigmatism in both eyes too, about -1.00). Perfectly health.
My friend told me he often forget he is wearing contact lense. That is just very surprising to me because my eyes feel irritated everytime i wear them. Anyone know what brand of contact lenses suit me the best?I heard contact for astigmatism is usually pretty irritating to eyes. Is that true?

Yeah that’s true. I have contacts as well, but I love them. THey never seem to bother me, either. I believe there is something wrong with your contacts if your eyes are always irritated. You should as your eye doctor about this. You’re eye doctor is the only person who would REALLY know. He’ll probably know a good contact lens for you.

Because you have an astigmatism you have to wear weighted contacts. Weighted contacts means they hang in the same position all the time. This means the proteins build up in the same pattern and wear on your eye faster. Your freinds contacts move in a circle each time he blinks, so he has “fresh” contacts with every blink. Weighted contacts means not so “fresh”…
I discovered this when I purchased un weighted colored contacts for fun… they don’t irritate my eyes nearly as much as the weighted ones I wear.
Always get the thinnest disposables you can, because your astigmatism will always make them harder to wear. They also tend to be more expensive, because of the weighting.

maybe its because they expired…or maybe the solution you use got spoilt….Bausch and Lomb is a good brand

I had the same problem – you may just need a different brand – I had to get some that let more air into the eyes – that solved the problem

Well it depends if you have them cleaned very good with the solution. Most people forget to change the solution. But then you should talk to your docter about you getting some special eye drops for your eyes.

I found out that I have a latex allergy when I tried to wear contacts. My eyes turned bright red and were painfully itchy.
