Yes – you can wear contacts. There ae several manufactureres who make contacts for people with just those issues. I have a reveres Astigmatism and I have been wering contacts for 12 years now.
If you are sick of glasses – definitely go see the eye doctor! I feel so much better when I wear my contacts.
Astigmatism usually occurs when the front surface of the eye, the cornea, has an irregular curvature. Astigmatism is one of a group of eye conditions known as refractive errors. Refractive errors cause a disturbance in the way that light rays are focused within the eye. Astigmatism often occurs with nearsightedness and farsightedness, conditions also resulting from refractive errors. Astigmatism is not a disease nor does it mean that you have “bad eyes.” It simply means that you have a variation or disturbance in the shape of your cornea.
Myopia just means that you are nearsighted.

Yes I have myopia, it means you are short sighted. The astigmatism means your eyes are shaped differently to a normal eye but you will be able to wear contact lenses unless there is a specific reason given to you by the optician.
There are many types available now including ones you sleep in. I have wanted soft lenses but have been advised to wear gas permeable as my eyes are prone to be dry. Take the advice you are given and never be tempted to extend the wear time or skip on cleaning properly. Maybe if you have daily disposable soft lenses this will not apply. Ask to see and sample those suitable for your prescription and take it from there. Enjoy the freedom from glasses, it will seem strange at first!

I have myopia (which means I am near-sighted) and have astigmatism too. I wear soft contact lenses. Contacts are great but you should also keep a pair of glasses as well. I was told to wear contacts for 8 hours a day only and not to wear them for at least two days in the week so I don’t wear them in the weekends. So that means I have to keep a pair of glasses as well.
