Would I Be Able To See Fine If One Eye Had Astigmatism And The Other Didn’t?

Just wondering. It would be very convenient for me if one eye had astigmatism and the other didn’t for surgical reasons. Would I still be able to see pretty good with one perfectly corrected eye and one with astigmatism?

You need a complete eye exam. The optometrist or ophthalmologist will be able to tell you how your vision is with or without glasses. Astigmatism basically means that the shape of your eye changed. Astigmatism affects the distance and the close up.

It really does depend on the severity of your astigmatism. You are relying on convergence. Hoping that while having both eyes open, one working well and one needing correction that you will see just fine. You really should talk with your eye doctor. What you do not want to happen is to strain one eye by making it overcompensate for the astigmatic eye. Of course, you will NOT see as well as you would with correction. Hope this helps!

Well, I have astigmatism in one eye, and I see fine. I have glasses but I rarely wear them. It depends on the extent of your astigmatism though.

It’s best to have your eyes checked out by a certified opthalmologist; for your eyes sake. You only have one set of eyes and can’t risk losing one or the other.

You won’t be able to see perfectly, you will with corrective lens.
